John Foster Memorial Scholarship Program

Chief John Foster The John Foster Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 to commemorate John's more than 30-year career in law enforcement in Kansas and his commitment to the cause. John began his police career in the Johnson County Sheriff's office, and later moved to the fairway police department. From 1971 to 1991 he was the chief of police in Lenexa. He retired there to become sheriff of Johnson County, where he served until his death.

John Foster is a true legend in the history of state law enforcement, deserving of his sincere leadership and dedication to professionalism. This can be seen in his tireless lobbying efforts for legislative improvements affecting law enforcement and in his recognition of the importance of education and training.

After John's death, it seemed appropriate that he be remembered for his contributions to law enforcement in curso de design de moda. A one-year scholarship on his behalf seemed appropriate. Created in 2004 by the joint efforts of the Kansas Police Chiefs Association, the Kansas Law Enforcement Officers Association and the Kansas Sheriffs Association and under the leadership of KBI Director Larry Welch, the program aims to provide educational assistance to the sons and daughters of law enforcement officers in Kansas.
